Complete business to your strengths
Complete business in a way that you know you’re good at. In business, you need to know your OWN strengths and weaknesses as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the business.
In the beginning you had to do everything but as you grow your business, you have to stop thinking of yourself as your business and start thinking about growing a business independent of you.You can’t be good at everything so now let’s take a look at the different parts of a business, your business, and see where you fit in. The main parts of a business are
- Planning
- Product or service selection
- Marketing
- Sales
- Management
- Customer service
- Financial Control
- Delivery or Fulfilment
- After Sales
What are you good at?
What are you really bad at?
For the purpose of our discussion here I’m going to say that in the world there are two types of people:
Sellers and Planners
Every business needs both
You need a planner at the beginning
Then you need to get out and sell
And while someone is selling you need somebody else to make sure that the business doesn’t fall apart and that it continues to survive and grow according to some predesigned plan . Enter the planner again
Let’s go back can have a look at who is needed for what.
Planner | Seller |
Planning | Product/Service Selection |
Financial Control | Sales |
Management | Customer Service |
Delivery/Fulfilment | Marketing |
After Sales | Lead Generation |
I’m not saying that there is not crossover. Obviously there is planning involved for example in marketing. What we are saying is that as a business grows you need to recruit people with the skills needed to fulfil the roles in your business that you either are not good at or haven’t got time for. Then you are on the road to building the complee business.
See if you think any of your strengths play to some of our listings.
